Any recommendations for a dry hypoalergenic dog food that your dog loves? Ive got a 8 month old boxer pup who gets bored of her food once im half way through the bag! Ive tried Hills, Arden Grange and James Wellbeloved. I would like a good quality high meat content feed. Any ideas?

I would stick with one food and create a fedding feeding routine, as in food down for 10 mins then food up and no more till the next meal, the thing is dogs are not huge eaters unless they are greedy for the sake of taking anything on offer, generally when dogs are like yours they don't have a huge appetite and being this way can mean when they leave some food the owner will panick and replace with other varieties and the same will happen over again. You have mentioned some of the better quality foods above and some very palitable, I definately think sticking to one feed and being strict with it will see her a healthier eater.
Offer a small bowl full instead of a bowl full to the brim and if she clears the first small hand full then by all means add a little more, better to add than offer to much at first. You could literally be over feeding her what she needs.

Try fish4dogs and try the new stricter routine to create a healthier eating regime.
Remeber dogs dont suffer energy slumps they are designed to survive on very little food.

thanks for your advice Cayla, I know I should put her food down and remove after 10 minutes, but I do worry as she she is quite ribby! I do only put a small amount down, but it can take her until lunch time just to eat that! I will persevere with the JWB though!

I have a 8 year old boxer who I have had from a nightmare, she is thin and you can see all her ribs, she is a nightmare often going days without eating, she has always been this way. Will often turn her nose up at fresh meat, mince chicken you name it when we first got her I used to get upset about it and had her at the vets heaps even going to a second vet for advice they both said the same.

Just ignore it feed her as normal if she does not eat it don't fuss , remove the food and try again the next day. She won't stave herself to death and she is better under weight than over weight like many dogs who come In to the surgery so that what we did and fast forward all these years and she has never changed, but she is fit and lean and people can't believe that she is eight years old. So I think being underweight is much better than overweight so don't worry yourself too much

Our puppy came from the breeder with Hills Science Plan and we are finishing a very big bag of it (might change to something else as this is very expensive!). She always turns her nose up at dry kibble but if we wet it and let it soak for 10 mins or add a teaspoon of Salmon Oil (fish4dogs) or a small blob of natural yoghurt or a bit of ham or tuna she wolfs it down. I think puppy food is quite bland and maybe the hypoallergenic stuff is too so making it a bit more interesting helps.

i feed jwb to my lurcher as she has colitis but she is a fussy feeder so i just put a little something on top to get her started and that seems to work. i use either tinned tuna(in spring water) cooked chicken, cooked fish or half a pouch of jwb wet food(from pets at home 70p each or 10 for £6) if i dont have any of the above very occasionally(prob once a month) i will cut up a slice of bread and butter and that seems to work just as well..its not the cheapest way to feed but it seems to work....

my girl gets colitis too, and JWB has been really good for her - she really likes the JWB wet food - but I dont want to feed just that on its own, and she wont eat it when mixed with the dry! humpf!

thinking back my lurcher improved with her eating(although still not a good eater) when i got a second dog........ a bit of an expensive way to improve her eating habits though!!!!!!! :D
