Arnie has heat in his legs again :( he's meant to be recovering not going back 5 steps :(

Received a text yesterday saying 'have fun with the bear this evening, he's in a right strop!' (I'm not surprised he's just about to start his 5 month on box rest)

Turns out whatever the monkey had been doing yesterday has potentially set him back.

Will chat to my vet but for now its cold hosing and reducing his walker time back down, he was due to move up to 25 mins tomorrow :( and potentially being allowed out in a field in a month. I just want him to come home, having 2 injured horses on different yards is killing me.

God this year sucks. I just want to cry in the corner under my duvet and wait for it to be over.

Bit of a pointless post sorry.

Not a pointless post, sharing is often a way to just get it out, instead of going round and round in your head.

There are times in life when everything does seem to go wrong, so sending hugs and hope that you start to get some better news soon.

Not related to your post I'm afraid but I agree that this year sucks! Got buried spectacularly on Tuesday evening and then yesterday a horse spooked on the walker before I could get out of the gate and set all of the horses off cantering around pushing the walker themselves! The partition smacked into me and knocked me to the ground where I was then run over by 3 of the 5 horses :-(
Had horses for years and honestly thought I was going to die yesterday! :-(

Thinking I may take up knitting............ or keeping tropical fish........... or flower arranging..........

Chin up and fingers crossed Feb is better for us all x

Hope you are ok, sounds awful

I agree, we need a dry cold Feb with clear skies, not looking hopeful at the minute though!

Sorry to hear you're having a crap time. Hopefully it is nothing major. Unfortunately they are all a bit crazy at the moment.

BB That sounds bloody terrifying! That god you're ok, but 1) Knitting - Long sharp spikey things 2) Tropical Fish - Electricity and water 3) Flower arranging - Ummmmmm Some are poisonous???

So definitely stick to horses, better the devil you know ;)

Just to add to 2014 horror 2 of the horses I look after have a mystery lump and we are waiting for the vet to come and look. The lumps are in no way similar, just chance they have appeared at the same time. Fingers crossed for nothing sinister

thanks, sat in work and no one in the office understands horses so don't have much to say!

Alex2601 I am sorry sorry to hear of you problems, rest assured you are not the only one that has these problems.

(Last year my mare cut open her near hind fetlock down to the joint capsule, had just recovered from that and threw a splint, got back from that and collapsed on the road splitting both her knees open!!)

Just keep going with the love and care ,I hope that it will all come good in the end. Head up, Shoulders back and take next month head on!

And as for the work thing, non- horse people will never understand!

Unfortunately I made the decision to PTS as when she collapsed the vet said it was likely she had some sort of heart attack, which on PM we discoverd that there was sevre damage to her heart, and also her other organs were shutting down due to worm damage from when she was a youngster. (but not sad as best decision I could have made for her)

However I hope that yours are ok, and keep giving them the love they need! I think at one point or another every horse owner goes through it.... they should come with a warning! :) And they are one of the only animals that dont appear to mind you cuddling them until stupid hours in the morning. and dont mind when you have a bad day and rant at how awful the world is!

Sorry for your loss i had to make the same decision on my TB in june last yr... Which is partly why im struggling with my youngsters injury atm. He was brought to compete as the injured TB had a career ending injury and funnily enough im in the same situation as janurary last year... With a horse with a potentially career ending injury! That is one of the best things about horses they just seem to take all the pain away with a hug so understanding even thou they dont have a clue! Wouldnt be without them!

Now I feel really bad for grumbling, at my lot.
Dont feel bad everyone needs a grumble every now and then!!

I know how you feel one of mine has been on box rest since october and hes still not much better than the first day he went on it

No post on here when having a tough time is pointless. Many of us dont have people close who really understand like fellow horsey people do. Big group hug to you all. X

Oh sorry to see this Alex2601. Remember your post about him when he first went lame. Box rest is such a bu**er. Really hope it comes back under control again quickly and that you soon start to move forward again. x x
