Gabapentin

Woody has just come back from vet hospital after inconclusive tests with two weeks worth of Gabapentin to see whether his performance improves on it. If anybody here has used the capsules could you tell me whether it is ok to open them into the feed or is the pony likely to refuse the food because of the taste? If I put the capsules into the feed as they are is he likely to eat those as part of the feed? I cannot just shove them into is mouth as he is still extremely weary of having his mouth handled. Thanks for any help!

I opened the capsules into a fast fibre feed and my mare ate it fine but then she ate absolutely everything. She was on 30 capsules in each feed so I was a bit apprehensive but it all went. Opening the capsules was much easier than grinding the tablets!

Thanks, he is not normally a fussy feeder so I hope he will not notice either.

Hi my gelding had these a few years ago, my mum broke the capsules to mix into his feed (chaff & baileys no4 with water) and he ate them x
