Why is it that when you pay to book the school out, and spend 20 mins putting up a course of jumps, that your pony decides he doesn't want to jump?!

Murphy jumped beautifully the other day, but today decided he wasn't going to play and kept stopping, cat leaping, demolishing jumps etc

I was very close to coming off quite a few times

I gave up in the end, concentrated on one small jump a few times, and then spent 20 mins putting the jumps away again!

Clearly his Highness was not in the mood for jumping today!! So tomorrow we'll try some flatwork, and you can guarantee he'll decide he wants to jump!

Who'd have an opinionated, stubborn little coblet eh?!

Oh - and Mr Tim Stockdale, if you happen to be reading this, whilst your demo at YHL was fab, allowing a pony to drop back out of canter into trot and then telling it off and pushing it on might work for more sensitive souls, but can be ineffective with a hairy, lazy, thick skinned, whip-ignoring monster.

I love him really

Make you should ask Tim to come over and ride Murphy?

heh, good plan! I got Andrew Gould's autograph at YHL and he wrote a little note to Murphy to ask him to please do left canter. I showed it to Murphy, but still no left canter. So now I can safely say that even Andrew Gould could not get Murphy to do left canter

Nahhh, these professionals aren’t all they cracked up to be really! I even saw Oli Townend’s horse spook at a jump filler the other day, shock horror! Just kidding professionals, you are all gods!

Don't we just love them, I had a jumping lesson on thurs and was on such a high from the last one but George had other ideas, he decided he would go like the clappers and run out at the fences! I was a quivering wreck, but once we put the fences up he was like 'ok this is worth making an effort for and he was brilliant!' - they really test our patience.

I now have an image of Tim Stockdale on Murphy - priceless!
