Has anyone had any experence with gaining planning permission to build a dwelling on thier land which is on green belt land? Any info would be great thanks
Get your local planning officer out for an informal chat. You would be very very lucky if you managed to get a dwelling, you would have to prove that it is essential to live on site, security and having to look after animals wouldn't be enough, if you are running a business you would need 3 years accounts showing the business to be viable and it providing you with a living. I wouldn't start drawing plans yet, but good luck anyway.
ditto jrp. It can take years and there has to be a proven need. I would advise gettng an agent to help, i would be very hard to do it on your own without any experience of planning laws and the local authority
My uncle has just had his house finished, and I think the whole process for him has taken about 9 yrs from when he first bought the place. It had old caravan on to start, and he had to get permission to make it permanent and then to live in it, then to upgrade it to a bigger static type thing, then to build a brick build residence. Also had to provide accounts as has fishing lakes, breeds horses, rents yard etc , and provides employment. Long long process, but can be done.
Agree having horses does not mean you have to be on siteas they see it tho do believe if a stud its different so could check out that avenue.
Preseny YO is building new place and tbh it was going back and forth this isn't right, thats wrong had to change minor things to get things accepted.
I tried and was told not in a month of Sundays or words to that effect.
They were prepared to let me build on the entrance to my fields as that was within the development area. The fields are outside the Development Area. The problem was that the entrance is so small if we had built there we would not have been able to get any vehicular access to the fields or stables !
The bit which really annoyed me was that I have 22 properties which share a boundary with my fields but the council still state that the fields are "greenbelt"
We have been trying for years, but nothing. However, as I said on LHS thread last night, people from a certain community have just got planning easily just over our hedge in the next field! (Still well withing the greenfield area)
