Which do you prefer?

I like the look of the Tredstep pro gaiter leggings and the Sergio Grasso 260 torino gaiters if were to go with the first option.

Or the Brogini 2000 laced field long boots if i were to go with the second.

Anybody got these boots/gaiters?

I prefer gaiters and jodhpur boots, I feel more flexible in my ankle and I just find they're more flattering than long boots, because long boots are just made in a standard cut and shape which may not totally match, whereas gaiters and shorties are more versatile in the fit because they are closer to your leg.. if you get what I mean? :p Sorry, didn't get much sleep last night!! Admittedly you can get long boots fitted properly but it's pretty damn expensive! xx

Do you mean for every day or for competing?

I have Ariat short boots & close contact chaps for every day, and long leather boots for competitions.

Conversely to what VS says, my long boots fit much much closer to my skinny ankles as they have zips up the back.

Thanks! I think i'm going to go for the gaiters and jodhpur boots. I spent £200 on my current long boots and they are ridiculously uncomfortable and an awful fit. And they work out a lot cheaper! xx

Ahh maybe I have some weirdly shaped legs then :p I have the Mountain Horse Sportive ones? I don't find they cling very tightly to the front of my ankle, at the back and sides they're fine, just not the front, and I have the regular width ones, not full or anything. Maybe I'm just strangely proportioned? :D xx

Which long boots did you get? Cos mine didn't fit properly with the ankles, strange as I have relatively fine ankles, and every time after I wear them they rub me and I can't wear them for longer than 2/3 hours, a right pain at shows and while helping up at the yard! xx

I think the MH boots are very chunky compared to proper leather competition boots. Mine are very soft, supple leather but were the best part of £400 seven years ago.

Yeah, I thought that as well while trying them on, but was in desperate need of some long leathers when I bought them so decided to just get them! May I ask which make yours are? xx

Both until i can afford some decent long boots for competing in!
I can't find long boots to fit my skinny legs anywhere!

Er, I bought mine a while ago!!!!!

I THINK they are Regents with a dressage top & rear zips. They fit my skinny legs really well. I'm really not 100% certain tho, as I can't find a style similar to mine on their website - might be an old style tho

Ahh they're the ones I was looking into buying but they didn't have any even close to my size!! So had to settle for MH ones. Really liked the look of them, but didn't want to settle for something slightly too big or too small because they were quite pricey! xx

They are mountain horse. I had to get the young rider as the adults were too wide and they still are too big!! I can't wear them at all around the yard as they are so chunky and hard to walk in i'd probably fall over! xx

Believe it or not I basically had the same problem with them! Too wide in the leg, very strangely cut and inflexible at the ankle, and I always find my feet get cut up even though they're the right size in the foot! Also quite wide and sort of.. high in the foot so they don't touch the top of your foot at all.. if that makes sense?! xx
