ouch.. sore hand
me and a friend went for a hack today and i was galloping my horse, she was only cantering her horse steadily behind me... my horse is very very fast and as hes going so fast we need quite a bit of room to slow down! we usually gallop round on the reight rein of this feild as more room to stop my horse, but today we went the other way- v. bad idea!
so as i was coming to the end of the bit which is sort of dirt/sand stretch thing, i was thinking oh sh1t im not going to stop in time, id left my horse in a snaffle and had sort of forgotten he needs to be slowed down for a bit... so i came to the end of the stretch, about 10 strides away, and i wasnt going to stop, i was still in control but going to fast to stop- bearing in mind at the end of this stretch theres a pond/lake thingy full of gross water, so turned left, home is towards the right, my horse wouldnt turn and was drifting towards the ditch that runs arounf the feild, so stupidly, well im not sure if it was as but i stopped turning him, so he attempted to turn right but he was going too fast and was just that bit too far to make the turn, i saw the ditch coming towards me and i was like oh sh1t, as i couldnt do anything to stop there was no way to turn, as theres a pond to one side and another ditch to the other... so galloping towards a nasty ditch with disgusting water in it and god knows what else- stagment water...... i was hauling on the reins but he was confused, didnt know where to go, i didnt either.... thank god he slammed, and i really mean slammed on the brakes, on the edge of the ditch, he was stumbling and i was half way down his neck, i was thinking oh right here we go, into the ditch, [****], i was so worried that he was going to hurt himself, it was so slow motion and i couldnt do anything thankfully he managed to pull back, and yes this did mean i fell off but i sort of landed on my feet then as it was a steep slope intot eh ditch i stumbled backwards but lucily i held onto his reins and he pulled backwards in freight pulling me with him... my friend was like sh1t are you ok coz she said it looked really painful... but luckily im ok, a little scared as all i keep seeing is the ditch and the dirty water infront of me coming towards me too fast!! luckily me and horse are ok, i was so worried that hed hurt himself but thank fully no !! but now my hand is quite sore... well my thumb but ill live
