Anyone bought/used theiri leatherwork particularly saddles - any good is it english leather or not ?

I need a cheap saddle just to get by with for a short while and a few are on ebay, jus twondered if any good.

Thanks

Personally I would rather get a really old second hand leather (quality) saddle as when you're done with it you can re-sell for about the same price. I haven't seen them in RL but tbh at the price they are I wouldn't expect the leather to be very good quality.

I've seen them about at beta etc and to be honest it looks worse than kincade (Weatherbeeta's budget range)

Buy a well known make as otherwise you'd be lucky to get £10 secondhand for one of these

Looked a bit like the kinade stuff oh well need to save up a bit more.

Your quite right you get what you pay for. there was a lovesone and rickets one might go for that

I have a gallop bridle and stud guard/girth, leather on both is good quality, obviously 'the more you spend the more you get 'but both my items are of a good standard.
Hope this helps!

I dont think there is much wrong with the Gallop products as such.It is just the finish of them that makes them stand out.The saddles are fairly good quality for what they are money wise but the stitching is abit rough and the cut off the leather is abit coarse. But they are okay for the money.

The leatherboard (not real leather, bit like fish finger fish!!)used in Gallop is very very poor quality. personally, I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole!!

Also saw gallop at BETA and was not that impressed with the stuff, yes it is cheap but it doesn't last. We had a load of stuff bought by our budget mad stores lady for the horses and the double velcro brushing boots were a joke. Thoroughbreds have skinny legs but their cob size boots looked like they would fit shetlands and were very stiff and marked a few horses. We are back on wood wear now.

NO NO NO! Girl who is riding one of mine bought a gallop saddle up to try on him, it was cheap, nasty and truly awful, have seen worse tho I suppose. Still worse than my new synthetic....wasnt impressed with them at all, very rigid things!

Just to be different lol!
I have a gallop saddle to jump Harry in and really like it. Yes i know its not the best quality but it fits (saddle fitter checked it for me when she fitted his expensive show saddle!) i couldn't afford two expensive saddles so paid for a good quality show saddle and £80 for a jumping/home saddle I find it comfortable to ride in and harry seems to like it
