i had the lightweight and thought it was ok length wise but was quite small in the chest/ shoulder area. Had used these rugs on big shouldered warmbloods so i wouldnt say the lw was really any good for them.
Yes they're minute shoulder-wise, if you're buying definitely go for one or even two sizes bigger than you need. I've found very few horses they fit nicely.
Handy for me that you asked this question Wowser...
I've been looking at the Gallop fly rug combination and wondered the same thing... It's for a fine Sec B though who hasn't got big shoulders so fingers crossed his normal size will be a good option...
Simple answer, don't buy their fly rugs, had 8 last year for our horses and none of them lasted, wrong sizes, one surcingle came off on the first day, no belly flap- yet the ebay guy i bought them off said he had loads of Gallop returned back and that Gallop wouldnt refund him. Naturally i left bad feedback, I stick to Shires from now on or even try HKM or Sheldon.
My partners really big wide cob is in a turnout and it fits well , as did his fly rug The shoulders/necks are very roomy on my herd, who vary from slim to fairly wide.
