Gallop Trojan horse rugs?

So a while ago I bought a LW turnout for my HW cob. He’s a pretty large boy (not overweight, but very broad and looks like a shire x). Anyway, I’ve found it better than my weatherbeetas- we had two days of downpour and he was completely dry under the rug. It also doesn’t slip, gap or rub anywhere (whereas this other rugs always did). I’ve always heard such terrible things about them but I was in a sticky spot after his other rugs were soaked through and no longer waterproof and so bought the first rug I could find.
Question is- was I lucky and just got a rare good rug, or do I reinvest and buy more?

I also have a 100g that’s been fine. I haven’t tested it in torrential rain yet but it fits my big chested mare perfectly. If I had to think of something, the material is thinner than my other rugs but no tears yet.

I have a 50g one for my youngster which has withstood torrential Welsh rain so have bought another in the next size up

I've had some no fil ones for a few years now, they are ready for a reproof, have bought some fabsil spray
Good roomy fit, and good size neck cover

I'm very pleased with the 50g combi I bought for my wide Irish cob a few months ago - has kept him dry in torrential rain, fits well and is the only combi rug I've had where I haven't had to put extenders on the neck straps to allow him to stretch down to graze without going tight.

Used them for several years now - as long as you don't have another horse in the field who attacks rugs they are very good

Been using them for years. There was a bad no fill rug a few years back that wasn't waterproof at all. It was dark blue with flashes of colour and had spring clips at the front not buckles, so I wouldn't buy another of those.

I've got the butterfly ones at the moment and they're great value for money.

I have the no fill, the 100g and the 200g with a neck, and I've found them all excellent on chunky build horses, I've never had one leak or rub, they are such good value.

That was my thought too- it feels far too thin but has held up surprisingly well (although both of mine tend not to ruin rugs as they are out in a paddock with no trees or sharp edges lol) my little chap once tore a £60 weatherbeeta on the first night. Repurchased- next day he trashed it again! £120 gone in a weekend ?‍

My paddock is the horsey equivalent of a padded cell- no sharp objects, trees, wooden fences (all post and tape) and a rubber trough. Two fairly sedate ponies. No tears yet, fingers crossed ?

Don’t get me started about tight neck straps- I had a rhinegold that would open on the Velcro part and the buckle would rub him raw. Everything else destroyed his mane. It’s currently hung across my hay-shed opening to keep everything dry!

I get the Trojan xtra ones, took a punt in a lightweight, and liked it so much I got a 100g. They are roomy, I could have gone a size down in them but I like a bit of space (although fly rug should have gone up a size), I find nice neck room and decent coverage over tail, no miniskirts here. I got them because they are 1200D and I no longer buy less than that, and I couldn’t afford rambos! I’m very happy with them

Mine has a huge chest and they fit perfectly. It’s about right in the length too, the same as my Weatherbeetas

My Rhinegold does that on the chest, so the velcro bit ends up against the skin. I don’t use it except emergencies for that reason.

Very large- fits my HW cob with nice room (he’s often mistaken for a shire x). It comes down to his knees which I like and has a large tail flap. Doesn’t slip or move on him but he is pretty broad

Yes- I found it comes down to mine’s knees which I love. I also found the velcro stays done up (unlike rhinegold). It goes down as low as a rhinegold but fits like a weatherbeeta- win win!

So disappointed now It's arrived, I tried it one and it's down to his knees and basically wrapped around his chest. Far too big, even though it's the same rug size as one which fits perfectly.

Have arranged for it to be returned and will be getting one a size (or possibly two) smaller. So weird that it was soooo big!!!

Oh no! Odd - the ones I’ve had have always been fairly true to size (however they are abit big around the shoulders on my warmblood)
