I am just wondering if anyone knows of either all weather or grass gallops which are available to hire in Norfolk (preferably near Norwich / Fakenham way). I already use the beach and blackwater but the beach can get hectic when doing fast work and Blackwater can be tight, especially after a drop of rain!! I'm also allowed to use Fakenham RC after racing if they have had a bumper but this is a bit hit and miss and need something more than once every few months or so.

If anyone can give me some advise it would be greatly appreciated.

Hot Chocolate and marshmallows to all who reply!!

I don't know if she'd say yes or not but Christine Dunnett has gallops in Hingham. It might be a bit far for you I guess? She has a mile of grass and 5 furlongs of all weather. They aren't for rent as such but might be worth an ask if you don't get any better suggestions :)

I was thinking about asking Christine but didn't really want to bother her as I did think they were for her sole use. I guess if I ask she can only say No!! There's a place near Loddon as well but was hoping for somewhere nearer so I could go a few days a week. I'm sure that there is a yard near Norwich with an all weather but sods law now I've gone to look for it, it has vanished!!

Well, they are Christine's so technically they are for her sole use but I've known her say yes to people in the past ( I used to work there) and she's pretty friendly so no harm asking I don't suppose. She certainly doesn't use them herself every day ( or at least didn't when I was there, things do change of course).

If you go you'll even be able to see where I was air lifted to hospital from. There is probably still a big fat bum print in the grass even now where I fell off :D

My neighbour has a grass gallop he charges £20 a year for people to use it I think as have never paid ! Does get cross when numptys churn it up in the wet though usually has some hurdles up to will ask for you if you like pm me :-)
