well that took some wording :D

Im looking for some ideas to improve my horses bond with me. Any suggestions would be gratefully received :)

I definitely agree with the grooming so many people don't bother giving a full groom now it really does bond you together.
Mine now follows me about a bit around the field, i like to think ive got some monty robrts 'join up' thing going on but i think it might just be the carrots that he's had as a reward and treat :p

Another fan of grooming - I have also taught myself a few non evasive massage techniques which turns him into a right dope :)

We also play 'tag' in the school, of course it doesn't take him long to tag me whereas it takes about half a day for me to catch him.

I would suggest buying a very good horsmanship book, it will teach you how to use your body during various exercises which in itself, may create a stronger bond between you and your horse - I'm a fan of Sally Swift and Linda Tellington-Jones

I was told to take my horse out for walks in hand to build somemore trust and a better bond with her, she was a nut case when we got her mind and it took a good 6 months for her to start to settle down. Also as already mentioned, grooming and massage can be good aswell. Dos your horse have a certian itchy place he likes being scratched?

kaylouise67, i've always wanted to play tag with my horse, but doesn't it train them to run away from you so that when you're in the field you can no longer catch them?

I agree with the grooming & just sitting with them :)
