The mother and son owners of an XLB that inflicted 'catastrophic' injuries - that included a fractured skull - to an eight year old child have been sentenced to two years (the son) and 20 months (the mother). The attack and injuries sound horrific, and the owner of the dog (the son) had not applied for an exemption. This seems to have gone to court very quickly as the attack only happened in February, but that must be a relief for the victim and his mother. I am glad such a completely irresponsible and negligent owner has received a custodial sentence.

That is really quick, I wonder if it was expedited as a warning that the law is going to hammer anyone whose dog isn't registered, neutered and muzzled.
.
I re-read the article as it seemed so speedy for the court process, but they also say the owner was in trouble for not having registered the dog so the year clearly isn't a typo. Hopefully it will hammer those rules home as you say, and make people realise they ARE responsible for what their dog does, and they will be punished if it does something dangerous.

I read an article on Sky that gave a bit more information - the dog had been left with the mother who had drunk 3 or 4 double gin and tonics while 'watching' the dog and left it unattended to wander around the communal areas. The son also admitted that she was probably under the influence of cannabis too.

The XL bully I (and now a friend) reported is still walking off lead and unmuzzled.

The Gov't website says to report to the police or your local dog warden, so if you have reported to one of these could you try the other?

So if the son knew that why on earth did he leave her in charge of a dog like that 😲

I would report it every time I saw it. I'd also, with regard to my personal safety, film it and submit the videos as well
