They had 3 down show jumping which is uncharacteristic. Rosie's Mum said the course was biggish but she didn't think he'd have had to much trouble with it at an ordinary event. Apparently he seems very subdued so maybe the atmosphere/crowds/marquees are overwhelming him. Anyway, they're going to have a go at the XC and she'll pull him up if necessary. They're due to go soon so I have my fingers crossed (very hard to type with fingers crossed!)

Oh bugger.
Oh well, fingers x they have a nice run round the xc.
Gatcombe does tend to have that effect on some of the horses. I know when my trainer qualified for the NRF, she won both her novices and NRF. Went to the final and had 2 down sjing, not a great dressage and retired xc at fence 3.

Yay - she went clear xc but I don't know about time penalties - she said she didn't push him as she wasn't about to come anywhere. Anyway, she sounded much happier than after the SJ

Excellent result then she should be over the moon for a first visit to the championships. I'm sure she will get plenty more opputunities to bring the rossettes home.

Just saw that she went clear xc, she must very pleased. Very respectable for her first time at the champs against some tough competition

I watched her on the big screen, lovely horse!! There were qutie a few having problems at fence 3, the house jump with the ground falling away on landing, they made that look effortless....and the corners looked good too!! She should be very pleased as there were plenty of issues for some!!!

I hope she's happy with the way things went because I think they've done really well - as you've all pointed out - for their first really big comp. Thanks for the support, she'll enjoy reading this thread when she gets back. They're on their way home now and OH has just spoken to her on the phone. He told her how lovely you've all been and she said to thank you all.
Tomorrow, riding the bay and the grey in preparation for Smiths Lawn on Monday (if the bay is in season - keep your distance!)
Good luck to all of you who are also there.

She said he was tired by the finish (been doing PC area SJ and dressage earlier this week so not surprising). He is honest though - 100% genuine ponio (and he's small - 15.2 - and only 8). Thanks

I haven't heard Blair mentioned and having spoken to Rosie's Mum since my previous post they haven't actually entered anything else yet. They're doing PC area eventing on Thursday at Burnham Market so maybe they'll be going to the finals and she's doing the JRN final at Weston but that's as far as they've got. They don't want to overdo it and he probably deserves a bit of a rest (my daughter reckons she does - another early start for Smith's Lawn tomorrow!)

The SJ caused a lot of problems yesterday, it was a big course and quite technical and also its not great ground in that arena with the atmosphere as well. The XC did take a lot out of a lot of the novice horses, that pull home at the end had a lot of big fences. A good result really!
