Gatehouse HS1 Jockey Skull

Has anyone got one of these? Good ? Bad?

In need of a new skull hat and like the fact it conforms to all of the standards and under goes a test for impact of head on a pole, horses hoof etc.

The only thing that puts me off ever so slightly is that the harness does look quite bulky.

Any reviews greatly received!

I have one. Its great. I dont notice the harness when its on and fastened.

Try one on which fits correctly, you will feel for yourself.

I wont ride in anything else. Ive never noticed the harness being bulky. It has to be a certain width to pass the increased tests required by snell.

its so comfortable! i've never noticed the harness! i live in it at home! Only slight problem is my hat silk

had to sew it on!
but best hat ever..so worth the price tag!

bb. yes hat silks are annoying as the whole think isnt roughened only a small area and as I have a little 1.5 head its not v big, I am forever loosing my flourescent cover cantering on windy days.

i've got a couple, one for sj, one for riding at home. very comfy, really good hat.
i've taped the cover on my one at home because it is so windy around here and i was sick of losing skull covers too!

I work for a racing saddlers and we sell hat bands which keep the silks on brill.

I know as i have just bought one of these hats and found the same problem keeping the silk on. My hat silk is black and the band it black so you can't even see it.

If anybody wants to buy a hat band for their skull let me know and i can sort you out with one.

I've just bought one, bought it from Equestrian Clearence after having siszing recommened by Kerilli, it arrived within 2 working days and fits perfectly. I can honestly say it is the lightest, comfiest hat I have ever worn. I was out when the box arrived so mum took the delivery and she said to me she thought the box waas empty when she took it.
I don't find the harness bulky at all. I found the fastening a little awkard to manage at first by by the end of the week and wearing it every day I got used to it.

I will definately go and try one on now......nearest tack shop that stocks them is an hour away, so worth the drive if everyone who has one loves them!
