GATEHOUSE OR CHAMPION?!

i need a new hat... help me decidee

one person ive asked has said gatehouse HS1 and others said get a champion.. :S

Personally I like my champion (and vented is def the way to go to keep your head cool), but OH is a fan of his HS1.

Try them both on first and see what fits best.

I have been told the HS1 is a simular shape to the charles owen hats and that is what i have at the moment so think thts what ill do

I really like the HS1 but tried one on and couldn't get it to fit for love nor money!

Depends what fits best, if both fit then get a Champion they are fab I have erm .. . . . 4

and they are fab super comfy I wouldn't change again having had one.

Re. the Charles Owen being the same as HS1 I have a Charles Owen that fits too and I didn't find the HS1 as comfy as the Champion despite the fact the lady said it fitted so I'd thoroughly recommend going out and actually trying them on.

champion if your head is round....... HS1 if its oval..... I think thats the right way round.

I have heard that each HS1 is made indivdually so they're all slightly different shapes, don't know how true this is though! Definitely agree you're best trying them on, don't know if the HS1 is the same fit as the other ones in teh range but I fit both Gatehouse (Hickstead) and Champion (Ventair Scull) but do not fit CO, although have a CO beagler!

I personally disagree with ester as find CO are too round for my head, if they fit front to back then they're too wide side to side

I've found gatehouse to be similar in shape to champion.
I have an oval shaped head and both fit (albeit champion fits better) whereas CO doesn't fit at all.

I've got a gatehouse which is incredibly comfortable, the campion skulls do not fit me and the back of my head is sort of flat and I need something that tapers in more at the neck. The champion hat with a peak fits perfectly!

So as others have said I would definately go and try them on as it totally depends on the shape of your head!

It's the other way around; Champion are "oval" and Charles Owen are "round". Never fitted a HS1 so can't comment on them or their shape.

FWIW I love the vented Champion hats and have the JS and riding hat versions. At the end of the day it depends what fits the best and feels most comfortable. Happy shopping

I have had both, liked both currently have the HS1. My only reservation of the HS1 is that my very sweaty head has discoloured the harness and rusted the bolts holding it to the helmet. The rusty bolts have stained a couple of my silks. Still love it though. But did love the Ventair. As has been said try both...
