Hi, I have been advised to let Gavin Schofield treat one of my horses and I wondered if anyone else had used him or had any thoughts about him. He has been recommended to me by Balance International.

Only ever heard very good things about him :)
 
Used him for a few years when I was based at a yard where he did monthly clinics; used him for a couple of horses that were in a really bad way, and for myself, and the difference was enormous, he really turned us all around from being cripples into something resembling something that could really function and work correctly!
The differences he made was phenomanal.

Since then I've gone to him on the odd one-off occaision and it hasnt seemed to work so well/at all, I think you do need consistent treatment to really reap the benefets; not to say that he hasnt done wonders in a single treatment on the odd occaision.
 
treats my horses regularly and makes a huge difference. Has made a big difference very quickly on horses with specific problems eg; locking stifles. Highly reccomend!
 
I used to use him - he wa a bit unconventional back then (holds his hands over the horses and 'transfers energy') - if you are sceptical I wouldn't go there as it does take a few sessions to make a difference. He helped my boy recover from torn shoulder muscles following a fall, but this was years ago. Couldn't guarantee it was gavin rather than time that made the difference, but he did seem freer after a gavin session. Gavin also used to lecture biomechanics and certainly knew his stuff there.
 
He's brilliant. I've used him for years and if the problem is muscular he will sort it! He is always my first call before the vet and if he cannot solve the problem I know it's something serious. I wouldn't let anyone else touch my horses back :)

He treated my gelding several times around a year ago, even when he said the horse was better it could still not be ridden and is now retired with back problems. However, I am not sure anyone could have fixed Ollie.

I have heard a lot of good things about Gavin though, it just didn't work for us. Some people think he is a total con as well (probably to do with his treatment methods which do look hocus pocus - he just sort of puts his hands on the horse - none of the usual stuff). As with most things equestrian, what works for one person/horse might not work for another. Gavin is a very nice man as well.
