Well yesterday I did my first ever One Day Event - and I loved it!!

I was very nervous about the Dressage as I HATE it! however I would like a round of applause as I did remember the test!! and we got a score of 34 YEY!
And I got a 9 for a halt!!!

On to the SJing - Show jumping was very tight they had some big old fillers in there! and they had a skinny!! never done a skinny before in Show jumping! so all fun!!
Warmed up and then went straight in, he was flying I had to really ride him into a Black and White spotted Filler's (Because they were going to jump out and eat him you see!) anyway had a great clear.

Onto the XC - the XC was causing problems all day and people were getting Elimated through out the day. The course was quite technical and they had really tried to make it like a BE event, some of the fences were Pre Novice height.
First 3 fences were very straight forward, then we had to do a big upright land then down a drop, then onto a skinny which he jumped great, then we had the Irish Bank which had a big log then one stride to a open ditch then out over another log, then down to a lovely big log pile, then onto the water which I rode him fantastic I have to say!! got all the striding correct and in we went, it was quite a big drop in then up two steps out. Then we had 3 steps the first step had a massive ditch in the front but all ok.
Then we could have a good gallop to the next fence which was a straight forward steeple chase fence all the rest were good all the way home, until we got to the 2nd from home and it was a log but skinny, got him all collected ready, and I could feel him backing off so really rode him and smacked him on the shoulder and he just ran out to the right (HOW GUTTED!) two fences from home!! Grrrrrr!

Anyway we finished well within the time with just the one run out so very pleased.

Waited until 8.15pm for the Prize giving as I was 4th after SJ - I was placed 9th! However if I did not have the run out on the XC I would of been 2nd!

I had a fantastic day - photos should be up later today so will post some up.

Off to Shipton Moyne for my next one, which will be my first BE event... but I have to say I CAN NOT WAIT!!

The feel Ren gave me over those XC fences was amazing!!

Brilliant!
Well i got 7s throughout x2 5s for when he resisted in walk and an 8 for my riding. quite a boring test sheet, but lovely comments from the judge

Now need to work on those 5's

It was lovely there yesterday, which section were you in? Bee was in 3B, Jasper did half a good test then lost it a bit in the canter bits, 4 marks worth. He still scored 31.8 so he must have had some VERY impressive marks for the first half as I reckon he probably lost about 8% messing about.

Didn't wait for the test sheets as they wouldn't give them out until the whole class was finished, not just the dressage, and wanted £1 to post it to you! Rip off!

Bee had 4 faults SJ, got last one down and rode the course with only 1 stirrup from fence 3 as she didn't want to alter his rhythm as she has been having problems with him backing off. Last fence was a stile 4 strides after planks.

On to XC, the new brakes are working, a bit too well, steadied him for 6, the skinny followed by a spooky coffin, right under the hedge, set him up a little too strongly and he lost impulsion and stopped. Popped round the rest of the course beautifully. Don't know where she came as we left as had a 1hr 20 min journey home.

On the whole very pleased with him as there have been a few teething problems and it seems to be coming together.

The course was well presented but a bit trappy, you couldn't really get going until after fence 11.

As Bee was coming into last but one someone fell off at fence 3 nearby and she had a loose horse cantering toward her. Fence judge was otherside of hedge so didn't seee! I was standing near the hedge and just put my hand out and somehow got it's reins!

Well done

skinnies are difficult so don't beat yourself up! What height did you do, we thought of going but I don't know Gawcott so didn't enter.

Well done! Its so frustrating when that happens! You must be looking forward to your BE event now, super pictures by the way!
Diva is going fab, altho our event got cancelled at the w/e so went BSJA instead, she would have won the 110 but were so so unlucky in the jump off to have the last down! We have four faultitus at the moment!
