Not only did she not take after four months there, racking up a good sized livery bill as well as stud fees, but now, a year on, when I had my horse's injections done, they injected her two days earlier than I'd said, so now she is "out" by two days and I have to start the whole course off again. My fault for not looking at her passport, but it was two months later when she came home, and I never thought! Grrr. Fed up. Even more expense in a year that I could do without it!

I guess that is what happens when you pass the care of your horse into the hands of others...... **** happens.
On the upside you have your mare back and I presume in good health.
At least her vaccinations were taken care of when she was away and she hasn't returned with any unwelcome visitors.
The situation could be a hell of a lot worse to be honest.

i guess you dont use a vet/farrier/saddlefitter then no?

I mean honestly, who would trust professionals:rolleyes:

Hell, its annoying. I've been caught out like that too. I have to religiously put everything on a big calendar in the kitchen or else I lose track.

Its just an annoying botch up, and not really the stud's fault - I told them she was due on the 10th, and had mine done on the 9th, but they did her on the 5th.

I religiously write on the calendar when they are due each year - but put the 8th, as that is the day before mine were done - but it never even crossed my mind that she'd been done at the stud, in my head I'd just ticked the box that she was done, and never thought to look when - in fact by this year I'd completely forgotten that she was done by a different vets, and initially thought our vet had filled it in wrong last year.

Just annoying that of all my horses, this is the one that does affiliated stuff and rc teams, so can't be out of date! So got to be all started again, even thought there are 12yrs of perfect injections, its all out due to one day! So tempted to change the 5 to an 8!! Only joking!

Neither is the studs fault.
Your mare didn't get pregnant, it happen. To save livery you could have had her AI ed at home.
Running a yard they try to get visits together so 2 days early isn't a big deal.

Sorry but you should have checked the injection due date.

i always thought that early was fine - I have certainly had mine done earlier to keep them all together and the vet said it was no problem. Its just whether they are late, isnt it? Or am I being stupid?!!??!

I think in just about all of my posts I've said its my fault for not checking!!

I know that they don't always get pregnant and it happens, but am allowed to feel a bit fed up after spending over a grand on fees and livery. Not complaining or blaming anyone else, just a bit sick, and this is just the final cherry on the cake of my failure to get my mare in foal! At least I tried.

Jericho early is fine, its just that I didn't notice that they did it earlier than I did my other horses LAST year, and so its now late this year, thats all.

I stand to be corrected but my vet said that a few days before the due date is not a problem it is when the vac is past the due date which makes sense because it is now out of its time limit, would chat with your vet if i was you first.

Sorry to hear the whole process has been a bit of a pain!!! At least they did sort out her injections whilst she was there and I guess came back in good health? Just a shame you didn't check the dates!
