Further to my previous post, where I posted that Gaynor was going to come and communicate with my spanish boy. I have since received loads of private messages asking the outcome, so thought it best to post here saves me writing it loads of times!

Just before I start, I was VERY sceptical. I would not use people from papers or general adverts as I do believe there are a lot are fakers. However with Gaynor's reputation and she has seen the queen's horses I thought I would give her a go!

So, she arrived few weeks ago and asked me to show her to his stable. She then asked what his name is. She did not ask anything about him and nor did I say anything at all before / during the appointment just to make that clear.

She almost straight away connected with him, he stopped eating (not usual for him trust me he is a total greedy boy :p) and he stood relaxed with a very droopy lip (like when they get sedated). Probably does not mean much to you, but I as his owner know that is not at all normal for him....especially not eating.....he doesn't stop eating for no-one :rolleyes:

First thing she said he said to her, was that he could not move his back legs very well last year. He explained to Gaynor that he could not sit back with his weight. Spooky number 1, both his hind suspensory ligaments went last year and he had an operation on them!

He then discussed that he now likes the feeling around the bottom half of him tummy, it feels more comfortable to him. Spooky number 2, we changed from dressage girth to normal girth few months ago as requested by saddler!

He also explained to Gaynor that he is happier in his mouth. She then did the action of shaking beside his mouth either side to being fixed by his mouth either side. Spooky number 3, we changed him from loose ring to eggbutt bit a few weeks ago! he is better in the eggbutt as well, provides better stability for him it seems he defo prefers it.

Gaynor then laughed and looked under his tummy. She said he made a comment that he was not happy his testicles were taken away. She said to me, you got him castrated didn't you. Spooky number 4, well yes i did, I imported him as a stallion you see. Anyway she said he feels he lost confidence and his power. This is true, he has been less confident as a gelding. Something i am aware of for sure.

He then said before he came to me he was very hungry. Spooky number 5, he was a remedial horse when I bought him over and was thin. I since found out that the owner before the one I bought him from starved him and was very harsh with him.

He then explained about his riding issues (as he has many and is very difficult to ride). He explained that previously he had a very sharp pain in his back, like a nail or something. Which is why he is so tense to ride and doesn't like to work through his back as he remembers. Now just want to add he had 2 rugs on, both thick, you could not see his topline whatsoever. Yes this is absolutely spot on, we really struggle with this, in 2 years he has been backed there is one area from his wither to about 6 inches along he wont use and is dippy through lack of muscle, very unlike the rest of him which has changed a lot! so spooky number 6.

Gaynor then explained to his rider (as he is currently on schooling livery) how she can help him. Gaynor explained that he panics a lot (spot on, he has bolted with me over panic so many times, hence now on schooling livery at present to get him confident and help his education) as he gets worried over specific things in riding. Which he does. He is a dreadful worrier, from mounting, to noises to anything out of routine for example. Spooky number 7.

Gaynor said he does struggle on the right rein, as he finds it harder to bend. Spot on, spooky number 8. Always his bad rein, and sometimes really terrible.

Gaynor said he was very stressed about 6-7 months after I had him. I said that is when we started backing him. He then said to her is was re-backing not backing as his nail pain experience was in spain. So as we expected they did try to back him in spain. Which is also what I have since found out since I have had him. Spooky number 9.

All of the above were explained in more detail and she was with him for a good couple of hours.

He was so different with her, was very interesting. He nearly pulled her hat off her head, which for him, is NOT normal, he would NEVER dream of being cheeky to anyone but me as he is a nervous type horse who has trust issues especially with people he does not know. He is a very polite boy, you can leave a pile of apples on the floor and he wouldnt eat them unless you told him he could. It was just strange he felt that comfortable with her I think

Anyway, as sceptical as I was I really am shocked and find it quite amazing now. There is no way she could have made all of that up! all of it is so specific to him.

In the past week he does seem more happy and relaxed, like he has spoken out if you know what I mean.

So there you go :) I suppose some horses don't want to speak to her, which she openly says could happen. My horse was very chatty apparently! I can imagine he would be, he is a sensitive boy bless him

Anyone else had any experiences with a communicator?

:)

That is very interesting. I too was a sceptic, but agreed to have a session with someone on the board who was learning to do distance communication. Well I was amazed. She told me all sorts of things, both about the horses we currently have and those we have had in the past  Interestingly she seemed better able to communcate with the ones I had most to do with, rather than those which sister was the main carer for. I was so impressed by her that when sister was looking to buy another one, I asked her to look at the sales photo and see if she could communicate with the mare. She did 'talk' to the mare, who then came to live here :D I can only say that there are more things in this world than we can currently explain :)

Glad you felt it was a worthwhile experience SN but next time send me your money :)

From your posts on here I could have told you that your boy was a wuss after castration, he was starved and beaten in Spain by his previous, previous owner, that he had issues with the girth area, issues being ridden, he was frightened and bolted, he had an operation last year......

Someone I 'knew' was a 'psychic' the first thing she used to ask people on the phone was 'what's your email address?' so that she could email them and confirm their appointment with her. Erm, no, so that she could google it and find every bit of info linked to that address. She would also regularly google her own name so that any mention of her in forums etc she could read over and track people.....

Scammers.

Well she did not know my email address and when I phoned to make appointment she just knew my first name not surname. Also I did the 141 before dialling to hide my number.

I do agree a lot or maybe most are fakers.

No I didn't, what was the outcome out of interest? :)
Oh, just that there is good reason to be sceptical. He also showed how seemingly amazing things can be achieved through use of 'cold reading' techniques, and even more amazing if the 'medium' has access to additional info.

But you did post several times about having an apoointment with her - I bet she googles herself every day....

I guess I shouldn't belittle your experience if you are a believer. Apologies.

Your lad is a stunner by the way!

Hmmm that I did yes - but most was not about that it was stuff she just could not have known.

Don't get me wrong I am sceptical usually and it was only because of her reputation I have used her.

Awww thank you, he is a gorgeous boy I love him lots :D

Ooo what is cold reading? (sorry prob dense question!)

Cold reading is when someone can put 2+ 2 together without any outside influences, so lets just take a really broad example. i call a psychic line, they don't know me. 1st question. DOB, next question, what do you wish to focus on, work, relationship blah blah.

Well it doesn't take the brain of britain to work out where you have a problem and you also given them you age. There are genuine people but unfortunately there are a lot of charlatans who take advantage of peoples grief or doubt.

Not at all, if you haven't heard of it before! There's quite a good article about it here: http://www.skepdic.com/coldread.html. This mostly talks about reading people and relatives rather than horses or pets, but the techniques could be applied to that situation too.

One thing the article says is "Not all cold readings are done by malicious manipulators." I think this is an important point, and I wouldn't want to allege anything about Gaynor Davenport's motivations. If you were happy about her visit and you felt it was worthwhile, for whatever reason, who am I to gainsay!

We speak with our bodies too. It's subtle but we give cues without realising we're doing it. It's all very clever but the entire course of a "reading" can be steered by what you don't say verbally.

My grandad was a medium and a communicator and i now do Reiki. I know there is something in it, but dont use it to make money out of people. I often do it to help the horses and people will maybe do me a favour in return rather than me take money.

I do find it funny that one person on tv says its not real so everybody believes that. Yes i agree that there are people who are fake but. I have treated very spectical people (for example my OH and believe me he wouldnt say it works if it didnt!) with fab results and now i treat them all the time.

I do not advertise and i do not intend to make money from my gift hense doing it in return for favours etc.

Yes I agree, however it was so sold I had my coat done right up with zip, hood on and only my eyes showing as was so cold. Also she wasn't even looking at me, she was standing with him and turning and telling me stuff every now and then.

You sceptical lot :p LOL

I recently had a distance reading done by an animal communicator I read about on here, more out of scientific interest than anything else. It was as good an experiment as any, as I have had my horse for over 13 years and I know pretty much everything there is to know about her. It's a bit like what they tell up and coming trial lawyers -- don't ask a witness on cross-examination any question that you don't already know the answer to. :D

Anyway, I Googled my first name (which is all that shows up on my email), my email address, and my horse's name, and nothing about any of us comes up. So we were covered on that front. I sent the psychic a rather neutral picture of my horse standing in a barn aisle and gave the psychic her name. That's the only information the psychic had. I asked for a general reading, no specific questions.

The results were mixed. A lot of it can be generalised to just about any horse, but was especially true of mine. There were some specific things she said which were definitely true of my horse. She also mentioned some things which had me thinking, "huh?" like saying my horse and I had recently changed course from eventing to dressage. I have played about on the odd cross-country course, but never evented and have done dressage since I bought the horse.

I would love to try again, same picture, same question, with a different person and compare results. The trouble is that they are not cheap. Do you think there's any research funding in this? LOL.

Glad you were happy with Gaynor's visit. Hopefully she didn't 'do' you on her mileage fee!!
Lots of talk about what your horse said to her, but what did she do to talk to him and sort his problems? Too much one way talking I fear.

You sceptical lot :p LOL
I'm sorry, that's just the way I am. :o

Are you sure she couldn't have got details from stuff you've posted here previously?

Anyway, one thing I'm 100% sure of is your horse is an extremely handsome fellow! I have a soft spot for Iberian esp. Andalusian horses, though I never had the chance to own one. :)

Oh that's ok, everyone has their own view :)

Well even if she had been on here, a lot of what she said was NOT on here anyway.

Thank you he is a lovely boy, his temperament is fantastic. Very sweet, cuddly, loving and desperate to please all the time. He does not have a nasty bone in his body bless him :)

If you ever get the chance to ride one or own, I highly recommend them!

I confess , i am facinated by this. I did try one that was mentioned on here which you send a photo and then she phones you up. I have never posted anything about this mare as I took her in as a favour but do know her history from the age of 3. She did get some things right like she thinks she has got show pony looks but couldnt stand doing it. Well she is a stunning mare (obvious from photos ) but she is a games pony, she doesnt do standing around she does going fast. I was not totally convinced though , just not sure. Wish I had the money to send the same photo to lots of different ones. Wonder if Horse and Hound mag would do a study ?

Gaynor came out to two of my horses last year. A friend really, really rated her so I thought I'd let her have a go getting to the root of two of our "difficult" horses. I was very open minded - enthusiastic about her visit - but £400 lighter and none the wiser as to my horses' problems, I felt ripped off and taken for a ride!!!

Total waste of my hard-earned money..........and I was really positive about her visit - what an idiot I was!
