anyone else with a GB sporthorse? Just interested in how they are bred, as in what mixes of breeds. Pics, of course, would be great:D

I have a 4yr old GB sports horse, Saskia.
Out of (I believe) a TB mare by Stanley Grange Royal Appointment.
Mum was 15.1hh, dad is a show pony stallion....she currently stands at 15.3 and is still a bit bum high!

lovely pics!

here's mine... TB (Accondy) x arab/highland. And a nicer mix i couldnt wish for... (bit podgy, lol)

Ooh, the Accondy stock I've met are nice!

My yearling was supposed to be a sports pony but hes going to be 16hands + Hes out of a sports pony mare, arab x connie by a WB xID stallion with Oberon lines. Mummy was a performance pony with a jump that needed to be seen to be believed! Daddy is also out SJing and has a hell of a jump.

I dont have a pic to hand, but hes built and bred to jump. I'm hoping hes going to make a really classy eventer. Hes got the movement, braveness, and the 3rd leg that you need, he might be lacking the speed though!

Mines 7/8tb home bred by Merit xx out of my mare by Welton Wilful by Welton Louis.
Can't upload pictures but I can assure you he is very nice, 15.2 moves like a dream and is very bold xc and sj.

explains it on here....

The general gist is a society set up to help improve Sport horses bred in the UK.

Thank you! I know the society wel (used to be Hunter Improvement Society)l, as my veteran mare (7/8TB 1/8 WB) is registered with them, but never actually heard the term "GB Sportshorse" used to describe a 'type' before!

I didn't get it either to begin with. I think it's just a generic term for a cross breed that's athletic and bred in the UK!! That's my understanding anyway... like the ISH...

Mine is by Stanhopes Diddicoy out of Coral Beach (sadly RIP) she is blue and white. Moves well, dishes very well too!!!
No pics sorry - am really bad at computers!!

i wasnt sure about it either... to me mines just a sporthorse, which sounds awfully posh and grand:p. but 20 years ago, he'd have just been a cross breed, a tb x highland/arab.

the ISH are all ID/TB types really.. from what i understand, i actually posted this wondering what, if any, the generic 'type' for a sporthorse of GB is, or even i there is one?
