GCSE PE Horse Riding

Has anyone done this or taught anyone that has please? - im teaching someone at the moment who is hoping to do this but ive also read that some people have to jump 3ft and the pony would not be up to this. thanks.

My sister is doing this, and she's specialising in Mounted Games, she's using HOYs and the England Ride as her "piece", so I presume that they can do it in what they like, but would definately get it checked out. GCSE board website?

I assessed someone last year for this. The sylabus I got was very basic. There were 10 bullet point requirements, Mount, Walk, Trot, Canter etc, but didn't say to what standard they has to ride to....

then it said they had to plan a course of 6 jumps and ride around it. Didn't have a height requirement. She did it at 2ft6.

Different boards may have different requirements.

I thought it was all a bit ridiculous really!

Definitely check which exam board it is. I have done a few assessments for local kids but their exam board has no specific riding syllabus  A friend of mine has done some for a different school, which uses a different board, and they have very specific criteria.

I did gcse horseriding this year and handed in my video a couple of weeks ago. On my syllabus for the 9-10 box i had to jump 3ft show jumping 2'9 xc or show lateral work, which is what i did, but i know there a different syllabuses so i guess it depends? the only thing i would say is make sure on the video every single bit of the criteria is shown up to whatever level the student is going to, even the leading in hand etc. and i dont know whether it is the same on your syllabus but the routine you have to do at the end of the criteria make sure is put in as well as the skills, if that makes sense?

My sister looked at doing this for part of her GCSE and it was very basic stuff - jump a course of 6 jumps of a min height of 1'6", walk, trot, canter on both reins. None of it required alot really and at the end she would have of had to have of been watched by one of the school teachers, and tbh they wouldn't have of had a clue if she was riding correctly or anything like that.
