when i did it (bout 3 yrs ago!!!) i had to jump a 3ft show jumping course, or 2ft9 xcountry and show some lateral work!! thats to get a 10!!! not sure if it changed now! but i think they basically just want to see what u can do!! i had to make a video of what i could do and seen it off! gd luck

I did it 4 years ago with 2 other girls and we all went to a local riding school to do it. They went riding there every weekend nd I hadn't been for about 5 years. The guy who assesed us taught them every week and was VERY biased. They got to ride horses they knew inside out and rode every week and I got put on a horse I hadn't sat on before. Unless you can gurantee that you will be assesed in a fair way....Don't do it.

Don't know any websites but my teenage daughter has chosen riding as one of her options. It depends on the exam board, but with hers you can either chose to jump a 3' course or do flatwork to a high level (ie lateral work I think).

My teenager has chosen to jump, and we have to send in a video. The sports teacher came out last week to watch her friend ride who is in Y11. Teacher was open about not knowing what was required. She had phoned up the board for advice and went out to see so had obviously put alot of thought into the assessment. Find out what board your school does for a start. Hope that helps.

I asked this as well and the replies can be seen Here

Make sure you have someone who knows their stuff to mark it and not just someone from your PE department you has been to a horse show or two.

I did GCSE PE about 5 years ago, my RI was really helpful, I did a course of showjumping basic ridden work, and some x-country. I was also asked some questions. I videoed all my work and it was sent off for the examiners to judge. I got straight 10s. If you have a RI ask them to help or your YO or even just a friend.

My daughter has just done it.
The higher the standard of the riding the higher the grade awarded.
Don't know of any websites as got all our info from the school.
Well worth doing in my daughters opinion

By the way re the shocked poster - overall GSCE PE is actually quite difficult and lots of work is required for the kids to pass
