gcse riding

if you are doing what my friend is doing she has to ride 2 different horses and do a video shoot 30 minutes on each horse and do certain movements , walk trot canter jump, turn on fore hand , one of the horse has to be one that is not schooled and not done much before to show off the rider skills and then horse that is naturally well schooled and then they take video into school and they send it away to somewhere and then gets marked not sure if yours would be the same x

im only doing half course, so ill look up swimming
i dont know whether to do swimming or personal survival...

my coach said i would easily get a 10 for personal survival, but may not for swimming

It's really not as it seemss -
Part of the GCSE Physical Education course:-
You do a piece of coursework,
A final theory exam,
and are practically assessed out of 10 on 4 different sports.

for mine, i videoed everything from bringing the horse in, tacking up, warming up, my schooling session, dismounting, untacking etc.

i then had to comment on my friends video saying how she could improve and then comment on my own video saying what i could have done better

My sister did this, the PE teacher came to the yard and videoed. She only had to ride her horse. PE teacher wasn't horsy. However she got full marks in every section. She had to walk/trot/canter no stirrups. As well as do some smallish jumps

o is it easy then?

cos some of the videos ive seen were really good :P ie lateral stuff, and 3ft jumping

they take into account the horses ability, ot everyone has access to a horse able to piaffe or jump 3ft9. Our instructor said what horse was capable of and that was accepted.

I wish it was around when I did my exams - I used to skive PE - I might have turned up if I'd had this option

Basically, you have to jump a 3ft SJ round, or a 2'9" XC course, or a course of a mixture of the two.

You have to be able to perform simple flatwork movements aswell.

If you're not one for jumping, you have to do more complicated flatwork movements, such as pirouettes at the walk and medium trot/counter canter.

I've got to get videod riding my horse for part of my PE GCSE mark and my teacher just gave me a marksheet with simple things like mounting walk trot canter etc. for one level and then a level up is doing a jumping course/dressage test and then a level up from that is analysing a horse and showing how you can improve the horse. I'll just get my dad to video me riding my horse and then i think my PE teacher is just going to look at it and mark it.

You can also do like dressage and Showjumping as two out of your 4 sports if that helps. Good luck with your PE exams xx

oh sorry, my teacher isn't horsey and might have made a mistake, there;s only me and one other girl doing riding for PE.

sorry, didn't mean to give wrong information

they wouldnt let another girl do it, cos she dint have her own horse... and i cant trust my pony enough to let her borrow her
