We have a Euro Cargo 75E15 W reg. And for some reason the gear box has gone very stiff. We have used the lorry today for first time since about February. My sister said it felt like it would not slip into gear, like it used to. It got slightly better after about 5 miles, is this because we havnt used it for a bit, or somthing wrong with gear box, or is there some type of oil in gear box that might need changing, or can I put some WD40 somewhere (WD40 is my answer to everything!)
Any advice greatly appreciated before we take it to a garage.

it could be because you haven't used it for a while, should get better with use. my mechanic made me promise to take my box out once a week or so through the winter, even if only for 5 mins, and even then the gearbox got a bit graunchy but improved the next time etc. no idea about where to put wd40!

I know what your saying Kerrili, just said to Charlotte we need to take it on a few trips through the summer. They are going to take it to Belvoir Castle Tractor Rally(to sleep in) soon so that should give it a good blast.

I would suggest that you get the linkage checked out and lubricated. Also check if the gearbox oil needs to be changed or topped up..

Have you checked the oil level? The dipstick should be behind the cab somewhere. Running your gearbox to dry could be VERY expensive!

It will most likely be the linkage , simple to DIY..! tilt the cab then spray all the joints with WD 40 then lower the cab and work the gears with the engine off and the clutch pressed when it frees off tilt the cab and get a tin of grease and an old paint brush, libraly coat all the moving parts esp the knuckle under the gear leaver if its a non tilt cab you will need to crawl into the drivers side wheel arch(put steering on full lock so you can get in there ) and try to see the linkage and spray it , ....it is worth checking the oil but unless you can see signs of leakage its most likely ok hope this helps you...

Ive not had mine long, it is an Iveco 75E15?? and I was shocked at first just how hard it seemed to be to get in gear but Ive since been told this is a trait of Iveco wagons. I find after a couple of miles, its much easier to get into gear and also when Ive used it more.
