I was just wondering if anyone's ever used gel bandages as exercise bandages, e.g. like these:

I often use bandages on my horses legs but am also paranoid about tendons overheating. I noticed that you can chill these bandages and was wondering if they would keep the legs cooler during exercise. I think the gel is also supposed to help ensure there are no pressure points.

Just wondering if anyone's ever used them?

Cant see the point to be honest but i stand to be corrected. Horses legs will heat up what ever you put on them, even if whatever it is is cooled slightly to start with it will soon warm up quickly enough once the horse starts exercising.

I have the tail bandage made by them which looks to be the same as the inner gel bit of those bandages and as much as i love the tail bandage for rubbing reasons, there is no way in hell i would put it on my horses legs they get really hot underneath them and that traveling not working!
Just my opinion tho :)

hi i just bought some eskradron (sorry :o spelling is rubbish) cooltex bandages and after thinking i was insane spending that amount on then i love them they fit so nicely and look a lot neater than cheapo bandages.
unfortunatly my horses is now on box rest so never got the chance to use them so can't comment on how cool they keep the legs :(

I use the Eskadron cool bandages and they are quite good from a heat point of view, but these new gel ones look very cumbersome and thick, and I just get the feeling there would be too much bulk and therefore overheating.
