Only ridden/dealt with one - but it's definately a breed I'd look at buying one day.

Big, quite bouncy striding in the trot, then a longer striding canter, but can go very very nicely. But you'll find due to their naturally high head carriage, jumping is always fun with the ears in your mouth

Can be quite nervy but that's part & parcel of the breed.

Am very biased though as he was the horse of my dreams. Think they're a love/hate type of horse but they get a big thumbs up from me

thats good then,id rather have the ears in my mouth that there head vanish underneath them its somthing to grab on to if it goes wrong lol
i just worry as the have a high head carriage that i wont b able to reach to put the headcoller/briddle on !!!

We had two on loan for a year and even I, as a non-rider, found them easy to ride, lovely paces, calm but nosey. Fabulous temperaments and we would love to own one.

beautiful beautiful horses superb for driving but I wouldn't want to sit on one for all the reasons given (mouth full of ears when jumping, need a ladder to bridle up, higher action than a combined harvester etc) plus they are naturally long backed so wouldn't be too certain of how well they'd carry weight.

Nosey - probably the best way to describe them

Pos was quite nervy, but think that was just him, rather than the breed itself as he never really settled. Although I was told by someone who had dealt with a couple of them that they can be nervy/stressed quite easily. Have to say though, it wasn't nasty or dangerous, just a genuine "give me a pat and a stroke" type thing.

Oh and ditto about the bridling. One I dealt with was 17hh and even at my height of 5ft11, it was occasionaly quite a push to get bridle over the ears hehe

yes this is what im thinking,at 5.4 hes 16,1 what will it b like catching him in the field id have to take stilts !!!
maybe not such a good idea having him if i cant reach his head !!!!lol
will see what hes like when i get there
