ive had 3 different people tell me know my new boy looks like one, bit of history... bought from a dealer, told he was from ireland. this could of course be utter rubbish.

theres some pics of him in the link when he was at the dealers yard.

16.3 gelding,

http://www.equine-agents.co.uk/horse_cory.php

im intrested to see what any experts think, he to me certinally has the head, and the paces of one!

I have come across a few gelderlanders who all seem to be used for the same thing - driving with a natural high neck carriage and big stepping action they make beautiful driving horses. Havent seen any ridden ones though so not much use really i guess, sorry

thats ok, i used to work with a team of driving horses, the more i look at other pictures of them, the more he looks like one.... but a coloured gelderlander?? really?

I have ony ever seen bay ones which is probably why i cant see gelderlander in your coloured all be it he is beautiful. It was because of gelderlander sthat i now own my perfect horse - the man who bought him as a 6mth old colt kept him to drive and then as he turned 3 moved onto gelderlanders he wanted bigger horses. I ended up with my little man

I have just looked at the ad properly and the side on picture of him does look very gelderlander - short coupled sturdy build and that telltale high neck carriage. What do you use him for jhoward?

Gelderlander or Gelderlander x? We have a part-bred and she has obvious Gelderlander genes, however has many Warmblood traits and these shine through also. Has yours got the uphill movement with a flat back and high head carriage?

he will be used for a bit of everthing, my yo is goign to start bsja with him in feb, he has an amazing jump on him, then when we can she will take him for a spin around a x country course, and if i can reschool him, then she will be with him.

personally i will, do all the low level stuff with him, possibley show depending on how he looks in a few months

There used to be one at the riding school I used to go when I was younger. Didn't look much like yours. He had a really high neck carriage, slightly odd way of moving, kind of felt like he was travelling sideways for longer than he needed to on corners. Had quite a big head but quite flat across the front and cheekbones. Not a looker but a lovely horse once you learnt how to ride him!! He had been used for driving. Fun to jump as well!
One of the pictures on that site that shows his backend reminds me of the Gelderlander I knew, something about the tilting shape and squareness.
Not much help I know!
Nice horse though - I like a couple on that website

oh yes, he has an amazing trot, due to no schooling he has a very high head carriage,.... will go and put a picture of him on photobucket... give me 5 mins!

Iam no expert on Gelderlanders but did own a part bred one, he showjumped up to Foxhunter level and I then went on to hunt him for 10 seasons he was my horse of a life time, never let me down once he was the most brave, sensible, carful hunter I have ever sat on. He was still hunting up to the age of 20 legs totally sound no sign of wear and tear, but he got cataracts and was finding it increasingly hard to focus, so made the tough decision to have him put down. He was chestnut about 16.1hh a very big powerful front end, slight knee action, and from behind the saddle to top of tail he was completly flat! So flat you could of put a table cloth on him and ate dinner off him!!! Gelderlanders are normally from Holland and are driving horses normally black, very dark brown or chestnut often with white stockings.

The one we are riding atm has an amazing pop! And her head carriage is naturally high. Very powerful mover with a very active hindleg.

Lovely temperament and trainable attitude. When showing off, she goes Gelderlander. Schooling, we can get round with low head carriage but it requires effort from her.

There's one on my yard. He was sold as a Dutch Warmblood, but everyone asks if he's a Gelderlander as he's so typical of the breed. He was imported from Holland as a 5yr old, history unknown.

He's bright chestnut with 2 white socks & a blaze. 16.2hh .Very powerful at the front, but a bit weedy behind (may just be him). He has the very flat long back. So flat you could eat your dinner off him.

If you watch him trot from behind he goes very wide, & I've noticed this too with a Gelderlander cross that hunts with us. Both have a very powerful trot.

He's also the most fantastic natural jumper, so good infact that he regularly jumps out! He has a lot of character & is quite a clever horse.

just my observations - hope they help.

i have a gelderlander here he is

He looks very like the boy at my yard, except that 'ours' has a very flat backside & croup.

I didn't know they were Dutch Warmbloods, thought that they were used to breed them. I know they're covered by the KWPN though.

they are a breed of thier own from gelderland in holland but still classed as a warmblood, they have a mix of tb,freisian and trotter to make the breed who they are,you are still not allowed to breed gelders in this country if people do then they cant be registered !!!
