I am looking to purchase a colt who is being gelded before sale. When I went to see him he was lively but easily handled even though due to bad weather he had been stuck in his stable for 3 days and this was the 1st time he'd been out.
After being gelded would he be calmer and how long would this take to come about?
He is currently stabled with both stallions and mares and often has mares walk past his stable and is ok.
I will be kept in a yard of 18 mares/geldings, would he be ok in this environment once gelded?

Hope you can help

How exciting - I had two new forests that were gelded at about the same age as your chap we kept them separate from teh other horses for about 5 weeks, on the vets advice, the one calmed down almost instantly and the other took about 3/4 weeks to see a noticable difference, so i reckon its down the the individual horse, and their temprament. Good luck, and look forward to you posting a photo of him ;-)
