Gelding aggressive behavior, mares?

Old Horse has to be the last one out in the morning and in in the evening to ensure that "his" herd are all in the right place. He does a "I counted them all out and I counted them all back in" routine. This includes the stallion, who doesn't ever dare to look at him, and the yard dogs. When they were alive, the two cows and two sheep had to be accounted for, as well! He used to look out of his back window and yell at the sheep and cows if they didn't hurry up and show themselves.
He's like Corporal Snudge in The Army Game (very old British TV series). " 'Urry UP, you 'orrible little shower!!"
We usually have store lambs and sheep on the back fields each Spring, but mostly he ignores them. Interlopers. Tourists.

Yes and no.. I do worry about him rolling and getting legs stuck through the metal rails, kicking out and hitting one yadayada. They would also be a mud pit in the UK if not on concrete, then slippy...

So yes, I love them and think it's great but I can see all the possible issues too :D

It would be better if they were solid walls. The wrong horse, like the one that used to be in the next door stable to Charlie, would come over them, too.

I've never seen one with solid walls in any barn here, however fancy. I think horses here are mostly just expected to get on with it :)

Ours have grids on the fencing so legs can’t get through and a special gridded surface so no mud at all.
