My friends horse a gelding of 11 yrs, has become very attached to my mare and is attacking us when we go to get the mare from the field. They live out in a herd with mares and geldings. Anyone got any ideas on how to sort it? Splitting them isnt an option on a perm basis, I wondered if tere was a supplement or something to give him? He isnt a rig and was gelded at 12 months old. He is an ex racer and is fine to handle in himself, just gets nasty when we try to get the mare out. Any ideas much appreciated!!!!

Naff Oestress, has the same benefits on geldings (calming the hormones) as it does on mares.

Also supplements that contain chaste berry also helps. Equimins do supplement that contains this that is recomended for fruity geldings, can't remember off hand but I can let you know tomorrow as I've go the details on it at the office. But if you ring the guy at Equimins, he is very helpful and will be able to advise you.

gosh we have a gelding thats like this over both his mates - another gelding and a mare. He kepts very protective over them and herds them away from us and gets aggressive. He is also horrendously jealous over attention and gets seperation anxiety! i think its all interlinked, i may try him on a supplement too.

Not many ideas on the supplements but I would always take a long whip/lunge whip with me out to the field because he has to learn to be respectful towards you in the field. The problem will only get worse so be as firm as you can with him!

sales@equimins.com or if you give him a ring, he's called David.

Equimins do two suppliments called Temperamental and Nightmare and both are intended for all hormonal problems whether it be a mare or a gelding.
