gelding complications?

my wee man was gelded 3.5 weeks ago all well , very swollen for 2.5 weeks, swelling all down now but he has i 1inch hole with very small protruding white mass in that region, is this a complication hernia or is this part of the natural healing process? have sent email with pics to vet tonight and will call in morning but am quite happy that little guy is happy and has normal temp etc. knocked the matted hair of tonight and it has bled very very slightly and is normal red.
am i over reacting? i would have thought it should have healed by now?
any advice would be greatfully received

It sounds like a bit of a hernia - we certainly never had anything like that with my sister's tb when he was gelded.
