Gelding 'decorating' stable walls - help!

My gelding has a very annoying habit of pushing his arse up against the wall to poo. He has an incredibly thick Traditional Cob tail too (luckily black!) which doesn't help. His stable walls are delightful as result of his self expressive 'decoration', and his hocks are always covered in poo. I'm told he has always done this (he's 13), it isn't pin worms etc. Is there anyway of preventing him?! Does anyone else have this problem?

My new boy does this, apparently he always has done! A delightful habit. I haven’t found any means of cracking it so I try and take the positive - his poos are always at the edge of the bed so the rest stays clean!

I had one who did this. His poos were of good consistency, no rubbing of tail etc. I think he was healthy. He just had a place where he liked to stand to poo, and it was close to the wall.

I would jet wash and re-paint every year. Raised the black portion of wall to poo height on that wall too. Didn't notice half as much!

Mine does it too. It's infuriating but unstoppable. He also pushes poo through the bars of the side walls (barn stables) so I've had to put poo-height boards up. He doesn't have poo on his hocks, but if I'm not watchful (I don't brush tails often) he develops poo dreadlocks. Also delightful.

They are so weird. Really don't get it! This one also gets poo dreadlocks.

step daughters pony does this and it honestly drives me insane, he's just a bit of a stable slob-poo up the walls, dribble and snot and grease on every wall etc so i wash and re paint yearly......
by contrast my own pony is pristine and i only ever have to quickly touch up a few nicks and scrapes of paint........which only makes grot bag stable look worse......i threaten to electrify the back wall!

i tried building massive (like 13.2 height) banks to push him away from the wall but he would pull them down then continue as normal :(

Arrgghh!! I feel your pain! This one's stable is concrete panelled at the bottom with Yorkshire boarding on the top, as a result there is a little ledge running at just the right height for four or five carefully balanced poos overnight...??
I've also tried big banks but he just goes on top of them ?

Mine is also a decorator ? luckily for me he doesn’t get it on his legs, and he lifts his tail right up and out of the way. My stable also has a ledge which is now named the “poop shelf” as a few nuggets end up staying on there until I remove them.
he’s always pooped right at the back of the stable!

I discovered my pony does this! Hadn’t ever really noticed before, unless he’s recently started, that may be it actually as his bed is cleaner in general but I painted his walls white and they look awful now. It’s not even winter yet!
