me and a friend have just bought a little 12.3 gelding hes 6yrs old and has done a lot of mounted games in the past, the idea is to bring him back in to work and sell him on. hes been here a week and hes been trying to mount 2 of the mares in the field is this normal? hes out with a young colt a old gelding and 6 mares,

I wouldn't say it was 'normal.' My gelding doesn't and has never mounted a mare or even showed interest if they're in season. The only gelding I have seen mounting mares was a one that had been gelded late, so perhaps your new boy could have been cut late too?

iv never seen it before in any gelding im starting to worry now as to if he was gelded right. i cannot feel anything there and i did check when i bought him. my friends section b in in season and hes following her everywhere and mounting her

You don't need to worry, it is completely normal in some geldings. We have a couple who will mount one in particular of our mares, a haffy, that has very strong seasons. She basically crowds either of the 2 and nags them until they mount her, neither have ever covered before gelding. I have known may geldings over the years that do this and it is usually the mare that instigates it. If you mares aren't kicking the hell out of this gelding for trying then you can be pretty sure that is the case.

Absolutely normal for some geldings. My lad was totally disinterested last year but this year has been scarpering back and forth over 4 foot fences to get to a teeny mare that he has been rampantly servicing, the tart! Dunno when he was gelded, but he was 5 when I got him and gelded.

A friend's gelding will jump any mare he can as often as possible.

If he carries on, you can try him on rig calm supplement (can't remember the right name! :o)

God .... I hope it's normal 3 or 4 of our geldings mount one of the mares here given half a chance (we call her juicy Lucy!) she must have strong seasons because they go nuts for her and will fight each other for her

I have to keep them all seperated but she fence walks - 'showing' herself and winding them all up :o

A couple of the other geldings arn't bothered at all and can't work out what all the fuss is about! :)

thats good i"ll see what hes like over the next week or so and see if he settles down with them before i jump in and put him on some suppliment,
