We have a new gelding at our yard who seems quite aggressive to the other horses. This may be coincidence but when I had a quick look over him this morning in the field I spotted what looked like a testicle!!?? It was literally a ball hanging at the back end of the sheath. He is quite easy to handle so a friend put a headcollar on him and I had a feel. It is almost a handful, pink and fairly squishy. He didn't react to me touching it, although I was ready to get out of the way quickly if he objected! He is an appaloosa so already has quite a pink sheath. Could this be a testicle? Do they ever use maceration as a technique when gelding or are the balls always removed. It didn't feel like fluid, all I could think otherwise was maybe a lipoma?

I haven't seen the owner yet, but this is her first horse and apparently he had a vetting last week.

Don't have any experience of this.

Any ideas or suggestions on how to broach the subject with the owner appreciated!

Im sure the vet wouldnt miss something like that LOL! He would have other signs, such as cresty neck, broader head etc too.

Can you get subcutaneous sarcoids? I have only ever seen the warty type! The skin is absolutely pink and normal. It's not tight or stretched. Really is so odd!

I just don't want a scabby appaloosa getting my mare up the duff!

mine was a rig.....10cm too i have pics

his was internal and instead of having 2 scars only had one.........
i would have thought if it is a testicle i would have thought he would have reacted in some way, just try and speak to the owner and find out what it is

you can get subcutanious sarcs, and i have a pic of my boys one---it looks just like a testicle too

but i was there when he had them both removed all those years ago

unfortunately photobucket thinks the pic is rude and removed it

or else i could show it to you

it doesn't feel squishy though, and it's got hair on it
