Pickle always has had problems with anemia along with a few infections along the way, he is now permanently on NAF blood liquid as reccommended by my vet. He is going well on this but I would like to give him something to give his immune system a boost, last year vets gave him a drug for this (can't remember name!

Echinacea is good for the immune system if you want to go down the herbal route

Equiform Nutrition do a really good supplement called Equicell - I had H on it following her operation and she did really well on it - can't recommend it highly enough!

it says it has a calming affect definetly not what I want for pickle!

Immunal is the gold standard I think. My pony has been on it for the 2 months or so, due to a severe systemic infection. I think it has helped, but I got it on insurance as it was £70 a bottle (and that didnt last long & would last even less with abig hoss like pickle....)

Your vets will be able to inject B Complex vits which will last for a few months which is what I give to new rescues or anything which is run down. Red Cell is also good for anaemia. Hope Pickle feels better soon

Theres a drug called Interferon which is an immune system stimulant which may be given if your horse has an infection they need to fight off etc. Have you tried Red Cell/Propell which is an Iron/Vit/Min supplement?- I know it sounds boring but your Vet/ and a nutritionist would probably be the best people to advise! Good luck anyway!

he is allready on an iron/vit/min supplement has been on interferon in the past. Vets don't seem to be very useful and not really into herbal stuff. May try and nutritionist
