aka The Soggiest Show Report In The History Of Soggy Shows.

Today was our local pony club's open show, and, despite rain forecast all day, off we went! Genie has only been shown very lightly this season and seemed to be happy to go to a party!

First of all we had the Best Combination, we were pulled in 1st initially but put down to 2nd after the individual shows which was fair enough as she slipped on her gallop and the winner was hoof perfect. Straight into the morning ridden championship but we weren't pulled anyway which didn't bother me. She has a habit of going flat in championships and this time she didn't so I was chuffed. :D

Then it was straight over to the working hunter ring for the Large M&M Working Hunter. I had mmm'd and ahhh'd about doing it due to the conditions but the course was very simple and the ground riding very well. We came 1st! It was only Genie's second working hunter class and I was over the moon with her.

We then had the working hunter championship as ours was the last workers class. The mare was brilliant despite there being a fair few starts and stops as more people turned up for it, she gave me a CRACKING gallop up the long side when asked, and I couldn't believe it when she took Champion! :D The judge said that she was the only one that actually galloped and she was a lovely mare.

A short break and then the afternoon classes started. They went through VERY quickly (some people had the sense to stay at home!) and then we had the Ridden Large M&M. I went in with low hopes as three of the horses in the class were county standard and do/have shown well at county level. Genie gave me a good go-round, and a lovely individual with good 'welsh' trot and another of her cracking gallops. I was over the moon to be pulled in First again! :D

A short wait for the cob class to take place and then it was the ridden championship. There were some very nice horses in there, a lovely hunter was pulled in champion, and my Genie got reserve! :D We didn't get anything in the Supreme Championship but I don't care, my pony was AMAZING!

I am now home and have hopefully rescued my tack, which drowned with us. I was literally soaked to the skin! My velvet hat is drying out downstairs, as is my jacket. My breeches are so stained I'm not sure they'll come right, but it was SO worth it!

I LOVE MY PONY!!!!

No pictures from today but here's a one or two of her from last season, taken by the amazing trendybraincell!
