Glad that you're home MH, but please do take it easy with your fracture and listen to what your body says (as well as your Consultant!). I fractured L1 & L2 and was in a back brace for over 2 months - it was the most painful injury I've ever had. You're young and will heal well, but don't rush it!
PS I was in West Suffolk Hospital, so I imagine Ipswich was better......
((hugs)) on the injury. You did at least go to a decent hospital, I used to demand to go to there or Addenbrookes rather than Bury St Eds, they are not very sympathetic to horsey people in there.
Ouch! I feel your pain MH! I had stable fractures to T11 and T12 after a silly fall from a 13.2 pony (how embarrassing), was told I'd be lucky to ride properly again (i.e. Do anything more than plod out hacking in walk for an hour) and 4 weeks later I got back in the saddle. Got a major telling off from the ortho consultant at my 6 week fracture clinic appointment though!!!
But seriously, I wish I'd left it a few more weeks, I still get back pain 4 years on, especially when its cold or damp out. If I'd been a little more patient and given myself more time to heal then maybe I'd be in better shape now. The marvels of hindsight!
Take it easy for a bit, get snuggled up on the sofa and watch the olympics, take the good pain killers they've given you and do as the doctors tell you til you're healed!
