Am very excited but also sickeningly nervous. Am moving Geoff at the start of next month to a new yard.. An extra ten minutes driving, but on the main road rather than back of beyond so should actually get up everyday!

Current yard is full grass livery, haylage and hard feed included for £49 a week, has a floodlit sand school and fabulous hacking. Very quiet, with only Yo and one other livery, which is nice in some ways but means a lot of time alone and Geoff is getting sillier and sillier in company... Yo gives me lifts to PC or to occasional lessons, but I struggle to get out to compete, and she doesn't jump so can't get to any jumping!

New yard is DIY grass livery, with option of a box later down the line if i like for emergencies. Has an outdoor, an indoor, a gallop track and some XC jumps. Hacking not a patch on the last place with no hill work, but Geoff is good in traffic so can access some ok hacking. Am also a 15 minute quiet hack from a big show centre, where I already go for lessons and they hold bd and bs comps. Also my instructor keeps her horses there so already know someone - there are 30-40 horses compared to 5 on current! Hay is included and £40 a week, will go up to £50 incl stable.

Lovely current Yo understands why I'm leaving, and has said if he doesn't settle he is always welcome back. Will miss her, and hate changes, so this was a big decision, but am very excited. It also isn't working out too much dearer, will have to rearrange my life to go up twice a day rather than once, but will be worth it. Yay!!

My thoughts as well. Sounds like a good move, lovely that your old yard would be happy to have Geoff back if needed.

I know, that took a huge weight off my mind. With my old horse, the current yard was supposed to be a stepping stone whilst looking for somewhere bigger and busier, and then he ended up PTS and got the current one, and somehow ended up there a year and a half! And whilst old one thrived on busy yards, I really don't know what Geoff will be like... he is a bit stressy, but we won't know until we try. And I'm dying for a bit more independence, and last winter with the school frozen/flooded and then roads impassable with snow for several weeks he had a looong break, new yard on main road with indoor means we can keep going! But without YO being lovely and supportive I don't know if I'd be brave enough!
