Gorgeous George
Well-Known Member
You may have read my post about George suffering with hind leg lameness and he has been in the vets since tuesday having it investigated. I had a long chat with the vet yesterday and thankfully it isn't bad news
An x-ray and scan of his hind fetlocks showed some low grade joint damage a small sesamoid bone chip in one fetlock, but the bone chip is small and rounded and the vet thinks it may of been there a while. This chip has also caused some minor damage to the lower branch of his suspensory which again could be old. Of course whilst at the vets George came sound, so we don't know if this is what was causing the lameness or something else that has now resolved itself!
The vet doesn't feel the chip needs removing (but he is going to check with a surgeon) and feel the damage to the suspensory is too minor to need treating. He is however injecting both of George's hind fetlocks with corticosteroids & HA this morning to ease any inflammation.
The vet is advising another week off and then slowly bringing back into work, see how he is and take it from there, so fingers crossed all will be well.
I am going to collect him this afternoon and can't wait to see him
apparently he has been very good and a model patient
