Where I work we are currently mid-way through replacing the sand surface and membrane in an outdoor arena. The old membrane and surface has been removed and a new geotextile membrane (I don't know any exact details about which type) is being laid. The problem is water is lying on top of the new membrane and is not passing through. The company that manufacture the membrane have said that it will allow water through when the weight of the sand is on top and the fibres are pushed open more and that if it was made more open to begin with that it would be too open with the weight of the sand on top and may allow sand to pass through.
Has anyone ever noticed water lying on their membrane during installation and did it work ok once finished? Obviously we are nervous as don't want to end up with a lake!
