German showjumping classes- please help

Does anyone know anything about the way the german classes work? I've just got my horses results from germany and i have no idea what they mean really. I can work out the placings and things like speed class and two phase and stuff but i've no idea what height anything is. Any ideas???
 
HI

E 85cm (height and width)
A* 95 cm
A** 1,05cim
L 1,15cm
M* 1,25cm
M** 1,35
S* 1,40
S** 1,45
S*** 1,50
S**** 1,55

From A** you can get water jumps and it is not just the height which differs in the * classes... eg. A* the distances and course are kinder than the ** and the same for M and S
