When I ride and get the horse I ride into an outline I give and take with my hands as sometimes she will lean on one side of the bit, I am dead against sawing but someone who saw me thought that I was sawing adn said the way I rode was invented by the germans and that I could damaged the horses muscles (near its chest) and break one of the vertebrae just behind the poll, now I'm not grabbing violently at the horse in any way, does any one else know what this guy is talking about because it doesn't make sense to me!!!!!!

He probably meant that by 'sawing' (which you weren't doing) the horse would duck behind the bit, thus his outline would be 'broken' at the axis vertebra or further back.... kind of like the Rollkur stuff.
You'd have to go some to break a horse's neck even by sawing with very muscly arms!
So you should be fine....unless his head falls off...then you know you're using a bit too much rein contact!

Damn it I thought that something was missing when I put my horse in its field!!!!
I thought he was on about Rollkur too but then I looked at some websites and couldn't find anything saying it would break bone, I can't see how its possible but I keep an open mind........
