Mine has gone from a complete angel to Kevin this past week, resulting in him not loading, refusing to behave for the dentist, and bucking me off!!!

My horse turned into 'Kevin' 6 months ago and he is also 5 years old. I had him as a 3 year old and backed him myself, he was an angel and took it all in his stride............until now!!
Now, he naps, bolts and throws major strops ( not much fun with 800 kilo of maxi cob )
It is the same as us humans becoming teenagers and trying to challenge our elders i suppose?
But, to put a positive spin on things, When they eventually settle down, we will be all the better riders for the situations we have had to cope with and teach them to deal with and in turn they will trust our leadership.
Hang in there (LITERALLY) and think of the great partnership you will have in the future.

uh-oh, mine is 5 in April - should I be scared?
I cannot remember the other youngsters I have had playing up that much when they were 5, but maybe I was just lucky.

Oh no - mine has just started her 5th year and so far she is being lovely....... She has just come back into work after a few months off tho. Mind you saying that i haven't actually got back on yet....
I have much to look forward to by the sounds of things.......

Hmmmm...yes girl who is 5 this yr has also turned into a girl kevin !! she has decided she doesnt need me to tell her what to do anymore she knows how to do it herself!! Im hoping it wont last long!!
