Springy has become rather tubby after her recent escapades into the long grass and a lack of work due to me moving house etc.

I really could do with some help on a weight-loss and fitness campaign. She is on restricted grazing (with fully reinforced electric fencing) and I have started her off this week on 20min a day mostly in walk. I am concious not to overdo it as I don't want her injured but she really needs to shift this weight. I am doing mostly roadwork with short bursts in the school and hoping to up her to 40min a day in the next 2 weeks.

Any ideas/help appreciated!

You sound like your doing all the right things to me! Its so difficult at the mo with the grass - see my post (lazy ned) below. My horse ballooned when she went out and was quite slim before. Very scary. I started her off on roadwork, trotting and hills on hacks. Having no luck with her in the school at the moment as she is so lazy. Weird as she's normally a fizzy ride. It sounds to me that you've got things on the right track. Starting slow and increasing it day by day. As long as she's on restriced grazing and work she should shift the weight quite quickly I should think. Maybe lunge her as well?

Agree that it sounds like you're doing the right things, although some trotting might be in order rather than mostly walking, it should help to burn the calories a bit faster!
Is she on any other food other than just the grazing?
