get fit to be riding fit

what would you guys suggest to get riding fit
and how fit do you think you need to be to be riding fit
also what exercises do u suggest ?
 
Yogalates (yoga and pilates)! It's great for building strength throughout the body, especially in the core muscles which are important and useful for riding. I hear that wriggling around on a gym ball is useful too (I use one as I get a bad back) for the same reason.
 
Combination of jogging (I do 2 miles each day) and gym ball (not often - only when i can be bothered!). But tbh the running is of my own free will and not just because of riding!
 
Yoga and jogging, one is cardiovascular and the other relaxing and core strength building, ideal for keeping fit. Wish I was currently doing either one, but I am not jogging with these pavements. Once its gone I need to shift this excess
