It was the first one of our new sessions, ie trainer does first 15 mins then i get on for the remainder of the lesson. For the time being it's a real help. It's nearly an hour for me to get Rose to my trainer and I had a sudden panic that I'd got the wrong day but couldn't find anywhere safe to stop until we were quite close. Just a senior moment but ATM everything seems to sap my energy! Rose was quite hard work for trainer initially but by the time I got on she was in front of the leg and listening and I really enjoyed the lesson. Rose is not off my right leg, strangely enough, neither was my previous horse, so we had a useful discussion about my position, basically my right leg is weaker than my left probably because that's the one with the partially ruptured achilles, so I never really get her into the left rein, this affects so much of what we do and I'm still trying to process exactly what I do to compensate but my left knee definitely comes forward and I often find myself sliding to the right in the saddle which ca push Rose out through her left shoulder. So we are going to look at how we can improve my position whilst taking into account that I am a bit old and crocked! Despite all of this, Rose went really nicely and I had a real buzz. She is such a smart cookie! I love my lessons with this trainer as I always come home feeling I've achieved something, which is really what it's all about!

B Fuzzy packed, please send delivery address.....

Actually, no, cancel that. She was so bloody good today when young steers got out, no panicking but did as asked to scarper quickly to the farm for help, good B!

Didn't you put her to good use and herd them back to where they're meant to be?

Had it been the dairy cows, then yes, but not this lot, once one got into the dry ditch we legged it as 30 odd in there, all v silly and a mix of up to 18 months. 4 ended up out, but farmer and family got them back in v soon after and fence fully secured.
I've helped out over the years there and had it been the pure jerseys I wouldn't have had a problem but these are 1st and 2nd crosses out, and have been warned not to tackle single handed, not even farmer friend does as they are idiots!

I feel the collective pain with the wondering leg issues, though it's my left leg is the one that wonders forward. Maybe we could have an HHO left and right pool to swap amongst

Though happily both my mares natural side serves to straighten me and them. Big man Dabs meanwhile, well we do not compliment and make each other worse . We are destined for straight lines together, him and I.

There's a reason cowboys don't use 14hh natives, I guess. You've got a bit more authority on a chunk of a QH! I'm not sure I'd take on a herd of hulking beef cattle either.

Apologies for the thread diversion, oldie!

My pleasure, I have no connection with him other than having done a few clinics with him, and he is truely amazing. I am not particularly one sided, but he has really helped me, and I've seen him transform one sided riders in about 15mins, I just thought it was worh mentioning as he is a lovely man and brilliant to work with.
