It's the rubber itself that stinks of and retains the smell of horse wee, never mind whatever may or may not be trapped under the mats.

Those not blessed with a strong sense of smell, like I am, may not be aware of that :). In contrast, the smell does dissipate from sealed concrete floors as the urine dries.
