Well done for finding this Hettie!

Think everyone who feels so strongly (as I do) about AT being allowed to compete should "add a comment" on this ridiculous article.

Beware though, reading it will make you crosser!

THIS IS WHAT I TRIED TO POST BUT VERIFICATION CODE WOULDNT WORK
oops sorry bout caps its early

She has even survived the Le Samurai Scandal, which left her suspended for two days since she was not aware that Le Samurai had tripped. Amy Tryon has expressed remorse for what happened to Le Samurai and has stated that

what an absolute load of rubbish , that horse tripped , stumbled , went sideways like a crab , did everything it could to stay on 3 legs and not fall and hurt its rider , its leg was useless and even a novice rider could have felt the terrible pain it was in , amy tyron shouldnt ever ride a horse again if she felty that the way she rode that horse to the finish over a jump wasnt downright cruelty , i for one woulkd not let her even ride out my old safe gelding , as for the olympics , she again rode at speed into fences with little regard for the horses ability to be able to take off safely

I read the article but i have not commented as i suspect its purpose is exactly this; to stir up the whole situation again. and far from being written by AT's mother or PR company, it is almost certainly written by one of her detractors. Look at the way it is written, no real horse person or journalist/ PR wrote that.
I have said this else where as well as at the time. the video is awful, she did a bad thing. there was and is no excuse and she should not have been representing the USA this week. However the fact that she was is the fault of the FEI and the AHSA/USET. There is not one person i can think of who would not got to an olympics if asked so dont blame AT for that. You might direct some hate mail to those parties if you wish.
However She is going to pay for this for the rest of her life, she will never escape it and that is a big punishment. She rode like a muppet yesterday but at Barbury rode the same horse in the same bridle (he wears a plain hackamore) and went round as polite as you like. Barely anyone even noticed she was there. I wouldnt wish anyone dead and just bear in mind that if she has a bad horse fall the horse might not get up either.
I havent changed my opinion of her actions that day in lexington, nor would i ever send her a horse of mine, but i do not think this constant rehashing of the subject serves any purpose except making eventing as a whole look bad.
you might also care to remember that for a great many years AT was a serving member of the city's fire service and consquently risked her life on many occasions to save other people and their proprty and livelihoods. i didnt remeber that 18 months ago but i am starting to wish i had.

I agree Lucretia, the kind of mob mentality that emerges on here every time the subject of AT comes up leaves a really bitter taste in my mouth. It's totally unconstructive.

I'm not in any way defending her riding or what happened with Le Samurai but people on here have posted wishing her injury over the last few days- all a bit much I think.

If people genuinely feel that strongly about AT they should articulate their concerns to the FEI and UHSA.

I defended her until I saw the video. Every time the subject comes up it enables people, who have not seen for themselves, to see exactly how disgracefully she behaved.

She was not punished harshly enough and if she continues to compete in the public eye in a sport she has shamed of course the subject will keep getting rehashed.

The pathetic punishment she received is what makes eventing look bad, IMHO.

I quite agree with you lzt, I made a comment on the olympic thread at the time about it being karma but this dragging up everything all over again and people wishing she had been hurt is just plain nasty and not constructive in the slightest.

Mind you, it would help if some of the people commenting on that article could spell her surname properly...

QR- "Making eventing look bad"?

No.

It shows that the supporters of Eventing, the ones that keep the BE shop open and pay the way for the top riders to compete, no way allow or will abide any type of true cruelty to a horse. We will stand up and say that a rider has faulted and make sure future top riders understand that was not acceptable.

If this rallies the minds of people, and reminds them what a horrific piece of riding that was, then I am all for it.

Call it the mob, call it the press, call it what you want- A call it being a VOICE. A voice that says to the FEI- You may have let her off but we know what we saw, we are horse lovers, and people who blatantly disregard the well being of their horses are not welcome.

Even if she didnt feel it trip(it was obv. so i dont see how she didnt) couldnt she feel it was lame in canter before she went into that next jump? surely you would feel that there was bout 20 strides of canter n the horse kept trying to stop n was throwing its head about. if u can ride that well to be eventing then you would notice that surely.

This reads like some kid's school project on "My Favourite Olympian" with the way terms are defined at the beginning and the frequent spelling errors. Bet they weren't anticipating this kind of response when they posted it online.
And on the whole AT issue, I should think you would notice if any horse you were riding was that lame, so to not notice on one you are as familiar with as that, in the whole time she kept going is inexcusable.
