Yes to a very dark room. We have eliminated all light from our room due to OH doing night shifts. Dogs often come upstairs but have taken to going in the spare room to wait. They’ve been told to go downstairs and are keen on their nice bed in the lounge. Occasionally they’re allowed in for cuddles but we’re strict and I like my sleep.

I suppose, like with a young pup, get up early, toilet break, snuggles in bed til you’re ready or send them to their own bed til you’re ready.

Ours also wake up at 5.30/6 daily altho when we are off they do get used to it after a few days and then sleep in but generally we just get up give them breakfast then they go back to sleep. Altho even in weekdays this is sometimes there routine as hubby up early daily but I don’t have to be til 7/7.30 on my days off so prob easier as they are used to getting breakfast then coming upstairs for morning cuddles on the bed! Altho this will all change soon once the mini human arrives!
